Perugia Monumental Cemetery

Roberta Wilde © Art in Death 2017
Perugia, Italy

Opened in 1949 by the future Pope Leon 13th, it is a beautiful example of architecture where different styles do mix in harmony: Realism, Expressionism, Liberty, Art Déco and Eclecticism. Many precious works of art stand on the eternal residents ( mainly bourgeois or people from the rising political class): Walking through the boulevards, chapels and arcades it is possible to come across many illustrious personalities. Vaults worth a visit too.
