Nova Gorica, Slovenia

The Jewish cemetery , called cemetery of Rožna Dolina in Slovene, Valdirose in Italian and Rosenthal in German, is one of the few (and the largest) Jewish burial sites in Slovenia and it has been the last resting place of the members of the Jewish community in Gorizia (Italy). Most of the tombs have inscriptions in Italian and Hebrew and some of them are of very fine carving. It has been used from the first half of 1400 until WWII when the community was almost wiped away from the zone.
Notables: CARLO MICHELSTADTER, young poet and philisopher from Gorizia (Italy) died suicidal
