Monumental Cemetery of Certosa (Ferrara)

Roberta Wilde © Art in Death 2015
Ferrara, Italy

One of the main historical and artistic monuments of the Renaissance and the largest architectural complex in the city. Born as a monastry in1461,the Certosa cemetery houses the graves of famous residents, one among the others Giovanni Boldini, master painter . Though pretty different from the usual monumental cemetery we are used to (great and gorgeous graves surrounded by statues), it is worth a visit.
Many parts unaccessible to public tdue to bad conditions, though is patient, slight restoration
